I started this teal version of the sweater for myself last evening, but after rechecking my gauge and studying it this morning, it is clear it will be too small for me. I did check the gauge before starting, but upon rechecking I am off by 2 stitches per inch. So, I am going to start over.
Once upon a time I would be very upset with myself that I knit to this point only to start over, but in actuality I am not upset. It is something I want to make for myself and there is no deadline, so restarting is really not causing me any angst. What is causing me concern is conquering the gauge!
What I learned from a Google search is that too few stitches per inch and your garment will be too large; too many stitches per inch and the garment will be too small! Did you know that one needle size will only change the gauge by HALF a stitch.....I will have to adjust by several needle sizes.
To be continued.....................
